The EAST department will have a display booth at the National EAST Partnership Conference, held at the Hot Springs Convention Center in Hot Springs, AR on March 14-16, 2012. Our EAST Lab will join over 150 schools in showcasing the work of over 15,000 EAST students. Your child can be one of 8 EAST students selected to represent Cloverdale Aerospace Technology Conversion Charter Middle School.

Mrs. Chevedia Lucas and I will be chaperones for the trip. We will be staying at the Austin Hotel and Convention Center at 305 Malvern Avenue. The telephone number at the hotel is 501-520-6400. The school will not be responsible for lodging and meal expenses. The school will not pay for any telephone calls and in-hotel movies. We recommend that students bring a cell phone or phone card for their calls to home. We plan to have a T-shirt uniform for our team and it will cost about $10.00. For the Wednesday night banquet, it is recommended that gentlemen wear slacks and ties (sport coat optional), and ladies wear skirts, blouses, or business suits.

Students will meet at our EAST classroom at 7:00 am on Wednesday, March 14. We will return to school about 3:30 pm, Friday, March 16th. The Conference Schedule is in the Conference Packet for your reference.

Before we leave for Hot Springs, each student must have written approval from their teachers and must not have had any disciplinary action in January and February. The students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately as Cloverdale’s representatives. All school rules on conduct in the Student Handbook will be reinforced.

This is a great opportunity for students to show their accomplishments in the EAST classroom, develop skills in communication and teamwork, and have the opportunity to meet and share with other EAST students.
